CEO Manny Linares presents flowers to Miriam Ortiz as other staff members help congratulate North Shore's Employee of the Year.
MIAMI, FL – As part of the National Hospital/Healthcare Week and National Nurses Week celebration at North Shore Medical Center, Manny Linares, Chief Executive Officer, named Miriam Ortiz as Employee of the Year for 2008. Miriam serves as an assistant to the Director of Plant Operations and has been employed at North Shore since February, 2002.
"Choosing one outstanding employee at North Shore wasn’t easy," said Manny Linares, CEO. "However, Miriam was chosen because she demonstrates all of the criteria outlined in the standards of excellence to meet the hospital’s Target 100 goals. But the real underlying attribute of Miriam is her sense of ownership and commitment to excel in the area of customer service. She shows deep concern for our patient’s needs and goes above and beyond to ensure that everything possible is done to accommodate them, even when situations arise where the common solution is not feasible," said Linares. "I can’t think of a person who has demonstrated more examples of "going the extra mile" than Miriam."
National Hospital/Healthcare Week and National Nurses week is a time to say "thank you" to all of the health care professionals who have dedicated their lives to care for our community. These are the people who care for you in the emergency room, hold your hand after surgery and hand you your newborn baby. To them work is not merely a job; it is a calling to serve and care for people. Please take the time, and all weeks to show your appreciation for all that they do.
