Miami, Florida (June 29, 2015) – North Shore Medical Center’s Chest Pain Center earns The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® by demonstrating compliance with the organization’s national standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care. North Shore Medical Center is the first hospital in the state of Florida and the ninth in the nation to achieve this certification. The award demonstrates the hospital’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.
“This recognition from The Joint Commission, among others, shows that we are making a significant investment in the quality of our chest pain services,” said Manny Linares, CEO of North Shore Medical Center.
Through a rigorous on-site review, Joint Commission experts evaluated North Shore’s compliance with national disease-specific care standards as well as with chest pain-specific requirements. Clinical practice guidelines and performance measures were also assessed.
“We commend North Shore Medical Center for becoming a leader in chest pain care, potentially providing a higher standard of service for chest pain patients in its community,” said Wendi J. Roberts, RN, executive director, Certification Programs, The Joint Commission.
The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification Program is designed to evaluate clinical programs across the continuum of care. Certification requirements address three core areas: compliance with consensus-based national standards, effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care, and an organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.
