We strive to ensure that mothers-to-be get the absolute best care possible.
This includes not only having access to specialists and some of the most modern technology, but also a nurturing, attentive, family centered environment offering all-private suites, and our new luxurious Signature Birthplace Suites at an additional cost.
There’s a reason North Shore Medical Center has earned the Healthgrades 5-Star rating for maternity care. Every day, the physicians and staff at our hospital work diligently to live up to that honor. After more than 60 years of experience, we know how to deliver babies.
North Shore Medical Center specializes in obstetric care for routine and high-risk pregnancies. Our goal is to give our patients the best pregnancy experience possible, and to provide them with peace of mind with our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Having a Level III NICU should matter to every mom-to-be. Studies indicate significantly higher survival rates for very low birth weight babies born in hospitals offering Level III Neonatal Intensive Care, the highest level of care designated by the state.
It’s comforting to know that if your baby requires specialized treatment, the Signature Birthplace and Signature Birthplace Suites at North Shore Medical Center are close to you.

Signature Birthplace Suites
Giving birth is a special experience for every woman. North Shore Medical Center’s Signature Birthplace Suites are designed for the patient who prefers hospital care in an atmosphere associated with spacious, luxuriously furnished modern suites larger than typical hospital rooms that provide all the amenities of a modern top hotel, making new moms feel comfortable and pampered.
At an additional cost, these suites provide the special touches that enhance the post-partum experience, making it more pleasant and memorable for the new mother and her family.
North Shore Medical Centers offers a board-certified lactation consultant who provides assistance to mothers who choose to breastfeed their infants. For more information, please call ext. 6123 and ask to speak with the lactation consultant.
We encourage all of our moms-to-be to tour our maternity area to help prepare for the upcoming birth of their baby. Expectant parents may schedule a maternity tour during any stage of pregnancy.
The best time to tour is during the seventh month of pregnancy in case the baby arrives early. We offer several choices of dates and times each month. The tour lasts approximately one hour. For dates and times or to schedule your maternity tour, call 877-874-5933.
Other things to think about before the big day:
- What pain management options you wish to use during labor.
- Which pediatrician you’d like for your baby to see.
- Whether you want to breast feed or bottle feed.
- Whether you want your baby boy to be circumcised.
