Håkan Charles-Harris, M.D., RPVI, FACS

Medical Director   Comprehensive Breast Institute  
At North Shore Medical Center 

With over 20 years of surgical experience, including minimally invasive procedures, predominantly in the treatment of breast disease, Dr. Håkan Charles-Harris serves as the Medical Director of the new Comprehensive Breast Institute at North Shore Medical Center. Dr. Charles-Harris has also served as the hospital’s Chief of Surgery, Vice Chief of Staff and as a member of the Medical Executive Committee and the Operations Committee. 

Dr. Charles-Harris earned his medical degree from the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica and completed his internship and residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. He is double board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Vascular Medicine as well as being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a registered physician in Vascular Interpretation by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, a highly recognized standard of excellence in sonography. 

As a leader in education, Dr. Charles-Harris is an assistant professor in surgery at Florida International University’s College of Medicine and is the Medical Director of the FIU Endovascular Institute. He is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. 

Dr. Charles-Harris’ work surrounds the goal of high quality and community health education. After working in the Caribbean and North America, Dr. Charles-Harris brought his broad practical and theoretical background to South Florida in 2000. His Medical Directorship of the Breast Institute serves as an integral part of his goal in raising the standards of healthcare, and in particular, breast cancer awareness. 

With over 3,000 breast procedures performed in the last five years, Dr. Charles-Harris brings expertise and high standards to the Comprehensive Breast Institute. Through a passion for helping women and their families live stronger and healthier lives, Dr. Charles-Harris plays a leading role in providing our community with a sanctuary for compassion, education, and high quality breast care at the Comprehensive Breast Institute.

Jacquetta Latimore RT (M) (R)  

Diagnostic Imaging Services Supervisor, Comprehensive Breast Institute At North Shore Medical Center 

Jacquetta “Jet” Latimore RT (M) (R) serves as the Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor for North Shore Medical Center. Jet has been a radiologic technologist for more than 20 years, with a specialty in breast health. She has been with North Shore Medical Center for many years and her dedication to the hospital and community is well known. 

Jet began her initial training at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Radiology and soon after received her certification in mammography. Jet’s constant goal is to make an “uncomfortable procedure” more comfortable for all her patients. As a radiologic technologist, she performs mammograms, bone DEXA scans, and assists in invasive breast procedures. 

She is an active member of the medical community- speaking on breast health, being a part of several women’s organizations, and being certified as a Triple Touch instructor. Jet also dedicates her time to being a breast health advocate in our community, and her passion for breast health is recognized internationally. 

Jet’s years of experience and dedication to the hospital will help enhance the level of care provided to our community and allow North Shore Medical Center to expand our women’s services to the next level. We are pleased to offer a full-array of women’s imaging including screening and diagnostic mammography, ultrasound and more.

Jeannette Mirabal RDMS, (BR) RT (R)  

Diagnostic Ultrasound Supervisor, Comprehensive Breast Institute at North Shore Medical Center 

Jeannette Mirabal, RDMS, (BR) RT (R) serves as North Shore’s longstanding Diagnostic Ultrasound Supervisor. Jeannette has been providing health care since 1996 and since then, she has been serving our community with the utmost patient care. 

Staying local, Jeannette received an Associate in Science Degree in Radiographic Technology from Miami Dade College. Her continued interest in healthcare led her to expand her profession as she became intrigued by other modalities in Radiology. She pursued her curiosity and obtained an Associate in Science in Diagnostic Ultrasound from Jackson Memorial Hospital /MDCC Consortium Program. She joined North Shore Medical Center during her internship, and was hired prior to the completion of her internship. 

An active member of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and Keiser University advisory boards, Jeannette has continued to make sure her staff is up to date on all current healthcare procedures. She has overseen the credentialing of both General Ultrasound and Vascular Ultrasound by the American College of Radiology. 

Jeannette’s extensive experience will enhance the level of care provided to our community and allow North Shore Medical Center to expand our women’s services to the next level.
